The
town of Antoñana was founded in the
12th century (1182) by King Sancho VI of Navarre,
upon a population centre that had previously
existed as a fortified site at a crossroads.
Its outstanding architectonic feature is its
wall or defensive ramparts, recognisable in
almost the entirety of the perimeter. .
The centre is
made up of five streets going from north to south,
crossed by alleys and passageways, dominated at
the southern end by the Church of San Vicente.
