Situated
on both banks of the River Mayor, its origin
is lost in legend, although it is known to
have been granted the condition of town by
Felipe II, thus separating it from Laguardia,
in 1583.
Worth noting is
the parochial church of San Andrés, a fine
example of the Riojan renaissance.
The typical Baroque mansions give an air of nobility
to the town.
