There
are no references to its origin earlier than
the 12th century, when it appeared in relation
to the Town Charter of Laguardia. Lagrán
held the title of town prior to 1515. It was
walled, although few vestiges of this survive
to the present day.
Oval in shape,
the historical centre, at the foot of the hill on
which the town was built, was based around three
streets, with the church as dominating feature.
