The
population centre of Marquínez is located
in the municipality of Bernedo, within the
region of the Montaña Alavesa.
Of pre-historical origin, it is first mentioned
as a population centre in the 11th century,
in the Reja of San Millán. It is not
known who granted it the title of town.
