ARABARRI, A PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANY MANAGING THE BUILDINGS THAT FORM PART OF THE CULTURAL
HERITAGE OF ALAVA
Our company, which is dependent on the Provincial Council and the associated Town Councils,
has as its objective that of promoting the awareness, the conservation and the rehabilitation of the buildings which form part of
the Cultural Heritage Of Alava.
Among other lines of action, Arabarri offers its collaboration in each and every one of the phases involved in the purchase and
rehabilitation of buildings in the 25 Historic Centres of Alava, simplifying the procedures of access to aids and subsidies from
the corresponding institutions.
|
The functioning of the Company has been defined as an integral management tool for
the protection of the Cultural Building Heritage, using protection in its widest sense. Thus, beyond the driving force effect of
private initiative, the company has been tackling, by means of the rehabilitation subsidies, all the factors which effect the recuperation
and revaluation of the historic centres, creating, at the same time, the conditions which make them attractive places in which to
live.
ARABARRI forms a reference source for all areas related to the Architectonic Cultural Heritage: directing the inclusion of heritage
protection criteria in regional planning at provincial level; channelling the various initiatives of heritage recuperation, dealing
with the public, as a single window in the Administration, in the areas of restoration-rehabilitation, and coordinating all the
agents, both public and private, involved in Heritage Protection.
"Conservation of the historic towns or urban areas can only be effective if it is
integrated within a coherent policy of social and economic development, and if it is taken into consideration in the provincial
and urban planning at every level"
